START is OSU’s new student orientation, advising and registration program. It is available for students throughout the summer who have been admitted for Summer or Fall 2013.
To access registration and program information for the START orientation program you must first select the link that best describes you from the following list:
First-Year Students
First year START is for students beginning their first year or traditionally called the "freshman year" of college. Regardless of your AP/IB credits, if this is your first time attending a college or university you will need to attend a first year START.
Transfer Students
Transfer START is for Transfer students. Transfer students are students who have successfully completed at least 36 quarter hour (24 semester) graded, transferable credits from one or more regionally accredited colleges and universities and have been admitted to OSU as a transfer student.
International Students
You are considered an international student if you are or will be in the United States on a non-immigrant visa.
Conditionally admitted students are not required to participate in a START session.
Student Admitted for Summer Term
If you are new to OSU and will be taking classes in Summer 2013, you will still need to sign up for a START session in order to register for Fall 2013 classes.
Degree Partnership Students
If you are a current or new Degree Partnership Program student and plan on taking classes at OSU for the first time this fall term you will be required to attend OSU START. To sign-up for a START program please go to http://oregonstate.edu/newstudents/start/register. At the START Registration page you may be prompted to complete a short survey through the admissions office if you have not already done so. The survey will take one business day to authenticate before you will be allowed to register for your START session. Therefore you should expect to log back in the following day to complete the registration process. OSU Cascades Students Transferring to Main Campus
If you will be transferring from OSU Cascades to OSU main campus for fall or summer 2013 you will need to sign up for a START session in order to register for Fall 2013 classes. If you have less than 36 college credits you will need to sign up for a first-year START and if you have 36 college credits or more you will need to sign up for a Transfer START.
Post-Bacc Students
If you are a Post-Bacc student we ask that you contact your college advising office directly to receive advising and registration instructions.
Graduate Students
START is for undergraduate students only. Please contact the Graduate School for program specific orientation sessions.
